Free Boolean logic tools: truth tables, simplifier, K-map solver

Nine free tools built on the Tangibool engine: they run in your browser, state their limits, and show their working.

Type an expression and get the truth table with intermediate columns, the simplification with every law named, the Karnaugh map with a suggested cover, the CNF and DNF with minterms and maxterms, the NAND-only and NOR-only forms, the gate diagram, and the same rule as Python, PostgreSQL, SMT-LIB and LaTeX. Two more tools take two expressions or an argument: the equivalence checker reports the first row where two formulas differ, and the validity checker reports whether a conclusion follows from its premises and gives the counterexample when it does not.

Every result is produced by the same engine the app uses, with the same exact checks: exhaustive enumeration cross-checked by a SAT solver, and every witness replayed through an independent evaluator before it is shown. Nothing you type leaves your browser. Each tool page also carries a worked example computed when the page was built, so the page is useful even before you run anything.

The limits are the engine's documented limits: 12 inputs for truth tables, 4 effective variables for Karnaugh maps, 4,096 clauses for normal forms, 20,000 characters per expression. Above a limit the tool says so; it never truncates silently.

Truth table generator: any Boolean expression, up to 12 variables, with intermediate columns

Type any Boolean expression with up to 12 variables and get its complete truth table, with the tautology, contradiction and satisfiability verdicts, the minterm and maxterm forms, a plain-language reading at three levels and a gate diagram.

Boolean algebra calculator and simplifier with steps (every law named and verified)

A Boolean algebra calculator that shows every step: each rewrite names the law it applied, shows the expression before and after, and the final result carries an exact equivalence check against what you typed.

Karnaugh map solver: 2 to 4 variables, groups, SOP and POS, don’t-cares from assumptions

Draw the Karnaugh map of an expression with two to four variables, see the groups the engine suggests, and read off the derived sum of products with an exact equivalence check.

CNF and DNF converter: conjunctive and disjunctive normal forms, minterms and maxterms

Convert any expression to conjunctive normal form and disjunctive normal form, with the minterm and maxterm indices, the laws applied, and the size of each form.

NAND-only and NOR-only converter with equivalence proof

Rewrite an expression using only NAND gates, or only NOR gates, with the gate count and an exact proof that the construction computes the same function.

Logical equivalence checker: two expressions, exact verdict, counterexample

Check whether two Boolean expressions are logically equivalent. If they are not, the tool shows the first row where they differ, replayed through an independent evaluator.

Argument validity checker: premises, conclusion, counterexample or proof

Enter premises and a conclusion and find out whether the conclusion follows. If it does not, the tool gives the counterexample: an assignment that makes every premise true and the conclusion false.

Logic circuit generator: Boolean expression to gate diagram (SVG)

Turn a Boolean expression into a logic gate diagram, drawn by the engine as SVG with standard gate shapes, labelled ports and one node per operator.

Boolean expression to Python, SQL, SMT-LIB and LaTeX

Export a Boolean rule as a Python module, a PostgreSQL function, an SMT-LIB script for Z3 and a LaTeX formula, generated by the same exporters the Tangibool product ships and tests.

Questions

What is the difference between these tools and the app?

The tools answer one question about one expression. The app keeps the rule as a project: diagram editing, saved tests, coverage and mutation runs, version history, comments and exports in thirteen formats. The “Open in Tangibool” button on every result carries the expression across.

Do the tools track me?

The tools set no cookies and send no expressions. When a tool runs on tangibool.com, a cookieless counter adds one to the day's total for that tool and language so we know which tools are used; it carries no identifier and no content.

Can I embed a tool in a course page?

Yes. Every tool has an “Embed this tool” button that gives you an iframe snippet; the embedded tool runs in the visitor's browser like the original.
